COACHING OPPORTUNITIES
If you're an experienced coach or just starting out, we want you to join us in building a successful coaching team for years to come.
We are looking for instructors and coaches with a fun, outgoing, energetic personality able to work with youth of various ages. Candidates may instruct/coach within various volleyball programs including camps, academy, leagues, beach, or with our competitive club teams.
Our goal for all coaches is to become confident and successful in their role through ongoing support, mentorship, and guidance as needed.
We are currently seeking coaches/instructors for the following positions:
- 2027 CLUB SEASON - 13U GIRLS HEAD & ASSISTANT COACHES
- ACADEMY LEAD INSTRUCTORS
- 2027 BEACH COACHES / INSTRUCTORS
HEAD COACHES - 13U Girls 2027 Club Season
Those interested in a head coach position with Phoenix Volleyball Club should be at least 18 years old with prior coaching and playing experience.
Practices are at least 3 weeknights between 5:30pm-10pm with 6 to 8 tournaments on weekends at various dates/times.
Head coaches are responsible to transport provided equipment (volleyballs, cart, etc) to and from practices/games and therefore require appropriate and reliable transportation to various locations. You must have reliable transportation and be available for possible travel across Canada, U.S., and Mexico.
Compensation for Head Coaches is provided as follows:
- Honorarium - Amount is based on several factors including knowledge, experience , team age class. Provided in 3 or 4 payments.
- Travel - Airfare or mileage allowance, as determined by the club, is provided for travel to attend club scheduled tournament events outside Winnipeg. Coaches are expected to share travel when feasible.
- Hotel - Accommodations to attend club scheduled tournament events that require extended travel with overnight stay, as determined by the club, are provided. Coaches are expected to share accommodations when feasible.
- Meals - A meal allowance is provided for attending regular club scheduled tournament events that require extended travel.
- Merchandise - coach apparel options include practice shirts, sweat pants, hoodie/crew neck and/or jacket.
- Education - reimbursement of club approved course and workshop fees for coaching requirements, certifications, and upgrading.
ASSISTANT COACHES - 13U Girls 2027 Club Season
Those interested in an Assistant Coach position with Phoenix Volleyball Club should be at least 18 years old with prior playing experience.
You would be expected to attend all regular scheduled practices which are at least 3 weeknights between 5:30pm-10pm and 6 to 8 tournaments on weekends at various dates/times.

JUNIOR COACHES - 2027 Phoenix Volleyball Club
Junior Coaches are technically Assistant Coaches but without any formal coach training or experience. Junior Coaches must be at least 16 years of age. Junior Coaches are typically university students that can only commit to a limited practice/game attendance.
As a Junior Coach, you would be paired with a Head Coach that would act as a mentor and provide guidance and instruction.
Junior Coaches should attend as many regular practices and local tournaments as possible but are not expected or required to attend away tournaments where travel is required.
Compensation for Junior Coaches is provided as follows:
- Honorarium or hourly rate - based on commitment/availability. Honorarium is provided in 3 or 4 payments. Hourly compensation may be bi-monthly or monthly.
- Travel - Travel expenses (airfare or mileage) are not provided for Junior Coaches. Junior Coaches may travel and share accommodations with Assistant or Head Coaches if agreed upon.
- Hotel - Accomodation expenses are not provided as travel is not expected.
- Meals - Meal allowance is not provided as travel is not expected.
- Merchandise - Coach practice shirts and sweatpants provided.
- Education - Reimbursement of fees for minimum coaching requirements to be allowed on bench for Provincial tournaments.
BEACH COACHES / INSTRUCTORS - Phoenix Volleyball Beach League 12U-18U Girls
Our beach program is tentatively scheduled to start Summer 2027.
LEAD INSTRUCTORS - Phoenix Volleyball League 12U-14U Girls
Our in-house League program is tentatively scheduled to start in 2028.
The Lead Instructor must be at least 18 years of age and is responsible for planning and instructing age appropriate practice drills. Parent volunteers will be assigned as bench coaches.
All staff, coaches, and volunteers over 18 years of age working directly with youth or acting as a ‘Person In Authority’ must complete certain mandatory background checks and may be required to complete certain workshops/certifications as specified by Volleyball Manitoba and Volleyball Canada. These are all very simple to complete but we provide any help you might need to complete them.
